Minimum ordering Bespoke Tops Blend
When we design with you your Tops Blend (or prepare a single Top by reprocessing it to bring back the fiber characteristics of the fiber lost during commercial processing) there are a minimum number of feeds necessary for each feed going into our Servo Blender.
The lower the weight going in by the number of feeds available reduces the size/weight of the final sliver of Top. Our Servo Blender can produce from its' doubling a larger delivered sliver weight only when there is enough feeds (that is why 20lbs is an efficient weight to work with). We can add up to 24 feeds but a 4 meter feed cannot build back up the number of feeds needed to bring the final sliver weight up to 25g per meter.
The minimum weight and length for each feed is 100g at 4 meters long. For a Tops Blend that means that the minimum purchased Tops will be as indicated in the chart to the left.
These runs we consider to be Sample Runs that have a higher cost than orders of 5lbs, 10lbs, 20lbs, 50lbs, 100lbs, 200lbs and 500lbs.
Example - A 70/30 Tops Blend at its most efficient is 7 Bumps of Top 1 at 10kg (22lbs) and 3 Bumps of Top 2 of 10kg (22lbs). This uses 100kg (220lbs) of Top and is 4,000meters long (20 x 200 meter feeds) so that the sliver weight at start will be the same as delivered.
Minimum ordering Bespoke Tops Blend to Yarn
For a Bespoke Top Blends to Yarn or a purchase of our instock prototype Top Blends we can produce the number of lbs indicated which is the minimum order size for creating a Bespoke Yarn for you.
Because we work with micro commercial spinning mills that do not normally work with Top Sliver we can provide them with a Sliver that is calculated to the grams per meter that they need to spin from for the desired yarn size. The Maine Top Mill will be doing the doubling to reduce the sliver size for the roving that these mills need to spin from.
The normal put-up we have done is on cones but we can also have skeins made that does add additional cost of $1.75 to $2.25 per lb. (these changes could vary in a formal quote and are subject to change).
